FT Health: Innovation in Healthcare

What will a more efficient health landscape look like in the future? Everyday activities such as shopping and banking are being transformed online, most medical consultations and procedures still take place in hospitals and doctors’ surgeries. Breakthroughs — from wearable sensors providing real-time data on an individual’s wellbeing to the ability to sequence a person’s genome for $1,000 within 24 hours — promise greater visibility over personal health and offer the possibility of earlier, more targeted treatment when people fall ill.

Financial Times Report: Sustainable healthcare

Healthcare systems around the world are under pressure. As citizens grow older, rising demand for treatment is already creating new burdens for physicians and health systems. People are living longer but often with one or more conditions, demanding long-term and complex care that is expensive. Meanwhile, developing countries are still battling diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and HIV-Aids. This creates an urgent need to come up new models of delivery that are both more effective and more financially sustainable.
