Under the agreement, the generic manufacturers will be entitled to manufacture once-daily 25 mg TMC278 as a single agent medicine and a fixed-dose combination (FDC) product. Fixed-dose combinations contain multiple medicines formulated into one tablet helping to simplify HIV therapy and are preferred by public health treatment programs.

This is an extremely exiting milestone in our efforts to provide our HIV medicines to patients in developing countries. It marks the first phase of our larger global access and partnerships strategy for TMC278.

We're moving quickly to establish mechanisms to broaden access to TMC278 - starting even before we have final regulatory approval in the U.S. or Europe - to ensure that all patients in need, not merely those in developed countries, have access to our newest medicines.

A cornerstone of our Global Access & Partnerships Program (GAPP), voluntary licensing plays a vital role in ensuring widespread, sustainable access to our medicines where they're needed most.
