"Bee Happy Day" at Janssen France

The employees from Janssen France welcomed a very special and diligent population: a bee hive was installed in the garden of the site in Paris.
All employees were invited to a series of activities on the “Bee Happy Day", including Q&A session with beekeepers, welcoming the hive in the garden, a special lunch “around the honey” in the company restaurant, and the creation of a vegetal wall in the company’s main hall.

Why bees?
Since the Second World War, bees are affected by a lot of pesticides and, in many areas, their future is uncertain. At the same time, we know that the action of honey bee pollination directly affects 80% of human food. While this may seem paradoxical, bee colonies are now living better in towns than in rural areas. In towns there are less agricultural pesticide treatments, temperature is slightly higher and a series of blooms flower more regularly.

Promoting biodiversity
The variety of ecosystems on earth is at risk. Therefore 2010 was proclaimed the international year for biodiversity by the UNO. Janssen strongly believes companies have a co-responsibility to protect the local public goods and guarantee the conditions of a decent life on earth.

The bee hive is a strong and living proof of our commitment to sustainability as defined in "Healthy Planet on 2010" and Healthy Future 2015, and of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
