In December 2010 Janssen renewed its agreement with the Brothers of Charity for their projects in Africa. For the next five years, Janssen will be donating a number of our legacy products for the treatment of mental illness for a value of 100,000€ annually.
The Brothers of Charity maintain sixteen mental health care centres in six African countries.

In 2009, they reached close to 80,000 psychiatric patients in Africa, where mental disease still faces many prejudices and resources for treatment are often not available.
The administration of appropriate medication is part of overarching mental health projects including therapy, training of local healthcare workers and programs of social integration.
The longstanding relationship between our company and the mental health care projects of the Brothers of Charity dates from the invention of HALDOL by the late Dr. Paul Janssen.
